Resveratrol

So the best Resveratrol product on the market isn’t called Resbest or Resveramix or ResV or Resvermint or anything that has to do with Res. It doesn’t because the formulater understood one thing about the nature of resveratrol – it isn’t the only healthy thing in wine.

Wine is chock full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other nutrients. And it has resveratrol. It wasn’t until recently that scientists came out with new resveratrol research – but they’ve been studying the “French Paradox” for decades. Even in the 1970′s, the general feeling about red wine was that it was healthy and a drink a day was good for you.

The research on resveratrol focused the intensity on one of the many nutrients, and on only one of the many benefits – life extension. But some of the other super antioxidants like OPC’s are in higher concentrations than resveratrol. Did you know that wines from South Africa and Australia have very little resveratrol? But I bet you never heard anyone say stay away from those.

No, the best resveratrol product on the market is really a red wine supplement (even though they don’t say that anywhere on their marketing). It’s got vitamins, minerals, herbs, enzymes, a full spectrum of antioxidants, resveratrol, OPC’s, grape seed extract, red wine grape skin extract, bilberry, green tea leaf extract, lemon biovlavonoids, lycopene, lutein, gingko biloba, and digestive enzymes to name a few.

To top that off, it’s servings are individually sealed to make sure none of them get oxidized before you take them. You mix the packet with only 5 ounces of water to make sure you take advantage of some buccal absorption in the mouth, and it’s isotonic to make sure it bypasses digestion and gets into your small intestine right away.

It’s not a network marketing or MLM product and they don’t have an affiliate program. I can’t even sell it on my own site, but I’d be a fool not to recommend it there.

When people began noticing the health benefits of red wine the obvious place to begin looking for the reasons behind this was to the red grape. So, years ago studies took place as scientists dissected the red grape trying to locate the source of these health benefits. When they came to the Resveratrol which is located in the skin of the grape they discarded it and labeled it as a toxicant. This has put off the valuable research that could have been being done on it this whole time.

Luckily, they began paying attention to the Resveratrol again and have came to the conclusion that it is the reason for all of the health benefits that red wine has on a person’s health. The Resveratrol helps with the health of the heart, liver, blood vessels, and various other parts of the body. When you take it on its own you will receive the health benefits of it, without having to consume alcohol. More and more information is coming out about the many benefits that it has on a person’s health. The more we learn about it, the more amazing it appears to be as far as its positive results.

It is even showing positive signs of combating cancer cells. You can begin taking Resveratrol as a way to help with your body’s health and you can give your body the many benefits of taking something that is grown from natural means. Although it is located in several parts of the plant, including the vine, seeds, and roots; the area of the plant that contains the largest amount of the Resveratrol is the skin. The grapes that are grown in areas where the climate is cooler contain a larger amount of it then the grapes which are grown in warmer climates.

It is found that although the French consume a large amount of fatty foods, they suffer from heart conditions less than other parts of the world. One reason for this may be the amount of red wine that they consume. The red wine contains Resveratrol and this can cause them to consume these larger amounts of fatty foods while remaining in good health. Therefore, if you take Resveratrol as a supplement it’s easy to see how you can expect your hearts health to become improved. You can take Resveratrol in its own form without getting the alcohol effects from drinking a lot of red wine.

Called the exercise pill for good reason, Resveratrol supplements are getting a lot of press coverage and diet hype for good reason.

Resveratrol and Wine are a crazy combination. Not because it’s funny to think that alcohol could be healthy, but the way you drink wine is perfect for resveratrol.

Did you know that resveratrol is absorbed by the body best in the mouth? This is called buccal absorption. Well it just so happens that wine drinkers tend to pause before they swallow. Some even swish the wine around in their mouth and some sort of gurgle it to really assume the flavor.

Well those extra seconds in the mouth are what resveratrol needs to be absorbed into your blood the fastest and most efficient. It’s kinda like those pills you put under your tongue until they melt. Those kind are best absorbed in the mouth ‘buccal absorption’.

Well, pills are normally swallowed and their protective cases don’t let the resveratrol out until the pill is in the intestines. This might be good for digestive enzymes, cholesterol medications and amoxicillin – it’s no the best for resveratrol. It’s not even the best for headache medicines. Have you seen the kind that you rub on your forehead now? Science is starting to catch up with convenience.

To get the most from your resveratrol supplement, you really want one that is somewhat absorbed in the mouth – a liquid. You want one that is in individually sealed servings – most likely in powder form at that point. And you want one that has more than just resveratrol. Wine is healthy because it has lots of nutrients. If it just had resveratrol, scientists likely would never have studied it.

Resveratrol is found in a variety of fruit and vegetable plants and they are classified as seed-bearing plants or spermatophytes (to give them their scientific name).

One of the most well known resveratrol sources is in the skin of dark grapes especially from Spain. Rather than drinking red wine, you could always eat more red grapes.

Other sources are cranberries and blueberries although they do not have as high a concentration of resveratrol. It is also found in eucalyptus, spruce, mulberries and lilies although, again, it is only in moderate amounts.

The Japanese Knotweed is also a very good source of resveratrol. A root extract of this plant has been used for a long time in Asian countries to treat many inflammatory and allergic disorders.

The interest today in resveratrol sources comes from the reports of what was achieved in Japanese herbal folk medications. This covered areas ranging from the treatment of inflammation as well as lipid atherosclerosis ailments and liver ailments such as Hepatitis B.

Since most fruits contain resveratrol to protect them against insect attack or harmful microbes, eating organically grown fruit will give you some resveratrol in your diet.

Unfortunately, resveratrol is not very stable when heated so eating any fruit in a warm tart or pie will not give you any benefit at all.

Although one of the best resveratrol sources comes from Spanish red wines, the amount you’d need to drink each day would not be good for your health.

“Seed Producing” plants make resveratrol, a phyto estrogen, when they are under attack by disease or fungus. It’s like an antibiotic for plants. But not all plants make it.

Grapes (and the red wine made from them), Japanese Knotweed and Peanuts seem to be the most common, usable resveratrol products. Are they the best resveratrol products though?

From an absorption point of view, red wine is the best resveratrol product. Resveratrol is best absorbed in the mouth, known as buccal absorption, and the method of swishing red wine in your mouth before swallowing is nature’s perfect gift. If you’re looking for wines with the highest resveratrol content, you’re going to have to do some research.

The absolute highest are the wines whose vintners left the skins in the fermentation process longer than 10 days – but that’s not easy information to find. The second best indicator is a wine grown in the mountains or in the north where fungus is more likely and thus more resveratrol was produced. But, you’re really better off if you just stick with the red wine you enjoy drinking.

Then comes peanuts. Peanuts happen to be high in resveratrol. And did you know that people who consumed nuts regularly, had lower body mass indexes? So, don’t worry about the fat content.

Finally, there really are only supplements left. Pills, powders and drinks. Resveratrol is absorbed best in the mouth, so toss out pills immediately. Since they’re only 20% absorbable as it is, they’re even less effective for resveratrol. Powders and drinks are somewhat the same since you mix powders with water. But there are a lot of drinks out there too.

If you find a drink you like, make sure it doesn’t have too much sugar. 100% grape juice would be ideal. And ideally, you’ll want to find one that’s individually packaged. Once you open the jar, the oxygen will neutralize the resveratrol antioxidants and glasses 3, 4 and 4 will be worthless. That goes with powders, too. Find one where the powders are individually packaged – and you’ll find gold.
